Dru Yoga is a graceful and potent form of yoga, based on flowing movements, directed breathing and visualisation. Got a spare 45 mins? Check it out. Most classes are around double that time so it really is just a taster, but because it’s so heartwarming time always flies! It works on body, mind and spirit and is suitable for all. It improves strength and flexibility, creates core stability, builds heightened feelings of positivity, deeply relaxes and rejuvenates your whole being.
The yoga is also gentle, and a lot of it’s power comes from this subtlety. It’s very relaxing and focuses on creating an energy which facilitates the body to release, no need to push or force.
Using unique energy block release sequences, sessions work to subtly release energy constrictions which get held in our body, and particularly in our spine. There is also a particular focus on the Anahata (Heart) centre (known as a Chakra) which creates a heartwarming sense of wellbeing which lends itself to the body unwinding and releasing.
This is a beautiful yoga to practice on a retreat as you want to give the body a break from over exertion and stimulus and allow it unwind and relax, and connect with those around you. Dru really supports this and since it’s accessible it doesn’t knock you about which means it’s easy to practice 3 or 4 days in a row. It just leaves you feeling amazing.
Someone said to me years ago that just because something is gentle doesn’t mean it’s not powerful and every time I teach that becomes apparent to me as the feedback from the participants is that they have felt they have gone very, very deep into relaxation way beyond what they felt possible!
