    One day in 2010 I sat down to start writing what I thought would be a 2000 word essay on the Chakra system for a yoga training I had been doing. But I started writing and basically couldn’t stop, and 7 weeks later I had 40,000 words on the nature of the Body-mind connection! It encompasses understanding and knowledge I’ve accumulated relating to acupuncture, dance and movement, meditation, yoga, Native American style dance and ceremony, energy work and any other body-mind and therapeutic system I’ve engaged with over time.

    I’m still in the process of editing a version for publication, so the work on here is the draft I produced as it flowed through me in those 7 weeks, and which I actually handed in to my rather bemused yoga training tutor! (I had told her it was going to be over the word limit!)

    So it’s unedited and a bit rough in places, but I consider it’s better to be available for people to download and browse than sitting on my laptop. So feel free to take a look or download the free unedited version.

    It examines how our environment and life circumstances effect our body, our health and dis-ease process and how we are affected through our various layers – from our thoughts and feelings to how it impacts our physical structure. From a therapeutic perspective, although at times it mentions a yoga context, the healing principles of what I write about can be applied to any type of therapy – and for that matter any life situation we find ourselves in.

    The ‘Mind’

    I’ve also incorporated a great deal of my own experiential understanding and awareness of the Body-mind connection, including a section on the nature of ‘mind’. I detail what we experience in our ‘mind’ it’s patterns, and how it’s affected by what we are experiencing through our body, nervous system and organs, both in the present moment and through ‘body memory’.

    I’ve established this level of understanding drawing from all the aforementioned practices. I’ve spent thousands of hours in a meditative self aware state dancing in particular, and this experiential observation of the flow and movement of energy through my body contributes greatly to what I offer. I also incorporate many examples from my own life to illustrate energetic dynamics.
