Yin and Yang in Yoga: Do You Overstretch, or do You Get Stuck in Your Comfort Zone?
Yoga, just about stretching right? Hell no, it can be so much more, the more you practice the more the depths keep unravelling. And what is it a ‘practice’ for? It’s a practice for the rest of your life off the mat as it shows you your patterns and tendencies! This video helps you to see your Thought (Yang) v/s Body-consciousness (Yin) tendency.
Our human state exists on a spectrum from the Yin, solidity, of the body through to the Yang, ethereal nature of our thoughts, and we answer to both forces. So when you enter a yoga asana, how driven are you by either the yang force of your mind – as in your pre-conception of what you want to achieve in that posture, as opposed to the Yin signals coming from your body?
Pay attention as what you observe is often a metaphor, and representative for how your mind works in your life; that sometimes we favour our mental vision over what we are experiencing in the grounded reality through our body – and over-stretch ourselves, and sometimes we sit too easily in our comfort zone and don’t push out enough! Listen for the sweet spot!
